Airport Arrival
We will move your group from the airport to another building
near the airport where they will meet their host families. I
will be at at airport to greet you and to organize the transfer
to the other building. We will have a short ceremony to present
some gifts.
Leader
Dinner
We will have a special dinner for your leaders at a restaurant
with other host leaders and members of our International Committee.
Monday, July 19
Welcome
Ceremony
We will have a special ceremony and dinner at the Cockrell
Scout Center with the local Scout officials to greet your
group. We will also have an elected official from the City of
Houston to greet you for our City and to make a presentation.
I talked to Linda Craft last week and informed her of the time
and place of this ceremony. I have not received confirmation,
but she said that they will probably attend. This will be an
occasion where your contingent leader and your senior patrol
leader can say some words to our group.
Wednesday - Saturday, July 21 - 24
Leave for Boy Scout camp at El
Rancho Cima on Wednesday morning and return on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday, July 25
International Concert and International Committee reception.
- The event will have Scouts from other nations present.
Houston-Chiba Farewell Party
After the concert we will have a party with the host and visiting
Scouts and leaders. We will have a show with pictures of the
exchange activities.
Monday, July 26
Space Center Houston
We will visit a special museum that has many modern space exhibits.
JAXA - Japan Space
Agency
We will visit the Japan Space Agency for a special presentation
to your Scouts. We are still trying to meet with a Japanese astronaut
that day.
Tuesday, July 27
Airport
I have been informed that your group must be at the airport by
8:00 by Continental airlines.
There are many other activities planned by the host families.
We just had our final preparation meeting and everyone is very
excited.
